Vesak Day, also known as Buddha Day, is the most significant festival in the Buddhist calendar, celebrated by millions worldwide. Observed on the first full moon in May, it marks the birth, enlightenment, and passing (parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. On this day, devotees engage in acts of kindness, meditation, and offerings at temples, reflecting on Buddha’s teachings of compassion, wisdom, and nonviolence. Vesak is a time for spiritual renewal and a reminder to cultivate peace and harmony within oneself and the world.
